Please take some time and read a strategy, or read all 4 and then choose 1 to practice. You will need to read the strategy several times and remind yourself what to do. None of the strategies will work if you only read them once and never again.

When you find yourself in a situation where you think ‘I can’t do this’ or ‘this is too hard’ remember your chosen strategy and what you should do. It might be relaxing, it might be recognising the feelings and accepting them with kindness.

Most of all these strategies are here to help you accept that you do not always have to follow your emotions. Sometimes they lie and to succeed all you need to do is ignore those negative annoying thoughts.
